Born in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. In the late 1930's he joined the ranks of Rufino Tamayo, José Juan Tablada, Matías Santoyo, Adolfo Best Maugard and Miguel Covarrubias all of whom lived in New York. In 1957 his work is exhibited at the International Exhibition of Paris France, where he was awarded the gold medal as a muralist. He stayed in France with a grant from the Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores Mexicana and upon returning to Mexico he worked as a caricaturist for several newspapers and periodicals like El Mundo de Tampico, and El Universal. He also painted several murals in cities such as Mexico City, Paris, Caracas Venezuela, Los Angeles California, Mazatlan, Queretaro and Cuernavaca. His art has circled the globe, being part of important exhibits in Mexico, Spain, France, Italy and the US. His last recognition came to him when in 1950 he received the José Clemente Orozco medal. |
