RAFAEL CALZADA Mixed/Paper ABSTRACT EXPRESIONIST 1989

Mixed technique on paper signed by Mexican listed artist Rafael Calzada. His characteristic abstract style has made him unmistakable within the new generations of students of the San Carlos Academy. This piece is in pristine condition and shows a scene that combines the serene elements of color on top with violent interpretations on the bottom as if portraying the heavens and the world. It is signed and dated (1989, year that he was awarded the keys to the City of New Orleans by the Mayor) by the artist on the lower right.
