Francisco Moreno Capdevila (1926 - 1995)
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Francisco Moreno Capdevila moved to Mexico City in 1939. He made himself known as a great printmaker after studying the craft with Carlos Alvarado Lang at the Escuela de Artes del Libro. Later, he studied painting at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas and became a figure in the art world with his mural "La Destruccion de Tenochtitlan" for the Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico. In 1969 he was awarded the International Prize for Printmaking at the Festival of Spoletto, Italy. A retrospective of this great artist's work was held at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 1987. Capdevila died in Mexico City in 1995.
