Exquisite representation of Ishmael (Ismael) resting in the desert by Mexican 19th century painter Pedro Yxtolinque (1774-1835). The work is signed and dated 1834 on the bottom right corner. Set in it's original carved and gilded wood frame. COA from IMAA signed by Rafael Matos Moctezuma in 1997.

Pedro Patiño Yxtolinque (1774 - 1835)
Important Mexican painter and sculptor born in San Pedro, Acatcingo. He was a disciple of the great Manuel Tolsá and the third director of the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City. He died in 1835.
