Rina Lazo (1923 - )

Born in Guatemala, Rina Lazo was awarded a scholarship by the Academia de Bellas Artes to study abroad. She picks Mexico's Escuela de Pintura y Escultura La Esmeralda with Diego Rivera as her professor. For her great devotion and talent, Rivera asked her to help in his murals and such is his admiration for her work that he calls her his "right arm". Lazo also studied graphic art with Leopoldo Mendez, Pablo O'Higgins and Arturo Garcia Bustos at the Taller de Grafica Popular. She made many murals in Mexico and Guatemala. Some of her most important works are "Una Tarde Dominical en la Alameda" and "La Gloriosa Victoria", where she worked with Diego Rivera.
