Fine bronze sculpture with black patina by French artist Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828) representing Diana the goddess of the hunt. This piece is firmly attached to the base and the bow has been restored. The arrow is missing. A similar sculpture was estimated at Hampel Kunstauktionen, Germany in 2007 at 6,000 to 8,000 Euro. The Diana is one of Houdon's most important works and has been published in several books including "Bronzes, Sculptors & Founders" by Harold Bergman (Vol 3, Page 765). A version of this sculpture is on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
